Dear Auburn Family,

October on the Plains has been full of liveliness and joy for the Auburn Family! As we welcome fall, let’s reflect on all of the fun that October has brought to Auburn’s campus.

Hey Day was, as it always is, the highlight of the month! The Hey Day team and SGA as a whole worked tirelessly to make the day successful, and it was a record breaking. 12,975 name tags were passed out which surpasses any other year. Hey Day’s past is storied, and this year there was a larger focus on teaching students about its origins. Overall, camaraderie soared and more students and staff said “hey” than ever!

The annual Campus Roundtable was held between SGA, ISO, and BSU in order to discuss each organization’s goals and the way that they can uplift each other. The Roundtale serves as an opportunity to express concerns and praise successes across all three organizations. It is also a time for students to speak up about their campus experience, and we are thankful for all who attended.

Freshman Forum officially welcomed 57 new members this October! After a two round interview process and callouts at Cater Hall, these freshmen were celebrated as the chosen few! There was a historically large turnout of applicants, and SGA appreciates all of the interest taken in the program. The new group has had their retreat and has started meeting and we cannot wait to see what all they accomplish!

The EXP Branch of SGA kicked off this month as well. EXP is a chance for any student to participate in SGA and help with various events. The group is open to new members throughout the year and are updated on SGA’s goals throughout the year. We are excited to continue including them throughout this term.

Voter registration tabling continued throughout October and was held on the Haley Concourse by the External Affairs branch. Resources on each state’s absentee voting policies were provided to support out-of-state students. Encouraging students to vote has been a major goal of SGA’s this semester, and we hope to cultivate lifelong citizenship starting now.

A commendation was presented to all Olympic Athletes who have gone to Auburn by the Senate. This special recognition both highlighted exceptional alumni was a great time to honor these athletes who worked hard for their achievement. Current and past olympians were officially recognized, and, in the future, we hope to celebrate more.

As October draws to a close, we reflect on a month filled with growth, achievement, and new opportunities. From the changing seasons to the exciting projects and events we’ve shared, this month has been a reminder of the power of collaboration. We hope October has been as enriching for you as it has for us, and we look forward to continued collaboration in November!

We thank you for the honor it is to serve you!

Sincerely, SGA
