This team works on initiatives focusing on the following: Academic Advising, educational support services, course registration, the AU syllabus bank, etc. Through conducting peer benchmarking and research, this team within SGA is able to further inform their feedback and findings to the appropriate campus partners to advocate for student needs. As well as gathering feedback through Auburn Answers on the student experience relating to Academic Affairs.
Please feel free to submit any comments or concerns through SGA’s feedback website, Auburn Answers.
Each fall and spring during final exams season, there are two initiatives held for the student body. Priority1 occurs the week leading up to finals week to promote the all-around health and well being of Auburn students as they prepare for exams. The week of finals, Up All Night is held to serve donuts, juice, scantrons, blue books, and words of study encouragement to students in RBD Library/Mell Classroom Building and the Student Center. At midnight each night, a much-anticipated announcement comes over the intercom in both buildings: “SGA is now serving donuts and juice downstairs to wish everyone good luck with their exams!”
The Academic Initiatives team also works on creating Honors Week. The mission of Honors Week is to recognize the extraordinary efforts of students in the classroom, on campus, and in the community through public recognition of their achievements. Students meeting the highest standards of excellence in the areas of service, scholarship, and leadership are accepted into prestigious honor societies such as: Squires Honorary, Lambda Sigma, Cardinal Key, Mortar Board, Omicron Delta Kappa, Rho Lambda, and Cater Society.
In addition, one student and one faculty member representing each of Auburn University’s colleges are nominated and recognized for their outstanding accomplishments at the annual Honors Ceremony. Full the a list of Final Lecture Honorees, please refer below.
