Dear Auburn Family,

September on the Plains has been full of activity and energy for the Auburn Family! Here is an overview of all that SGA worked with through September.

Miss Homecoming campaigns were the focal point of early September. Abigail Stephenson, Helen Talmadge, Lily Grace Thome, Emery Waggoner and Molly Walding spent the week highlighting their platforms to the student body across campus. For three days, these five candidates planned activities revolving around their campaigns, and connected with students through tabling and chapter visits, and on election day, over 28% of students voted. On Saturday at the Homecoming football game against the University of New Mexico, Helen Talmage was crowned Miss Homecoming 2024. SGA would like to thank our Executive Director of Elections, Elections Council, and Elections Board for their hard work during the election season. Congratulations to Helen and War Eagle!

SGA’s Lobby Board team welcomed 40 new members to their group this month. After interviews and selections, new members and returners gathered for their first meeting of the semester where they set goals for the year.

Ring Sales Week was held September 16th-20th. The Auburn Ring is a symbol of pride and accomplishment for Auburn students as they are eligible to receive their ring towards the end of their college experience. The SGA Ring Team has been working since last semester for this week to run smoothly and their efforts were a success. SGA members from all branches helped to sell rings through chapter visits, social media, and on the concourse. The team also announced the brand-new men’s Signet ring to add even more variety to the rings catalog. Rings purchased will be received at Ring Night on December 5th.

A voter registration drive was held on campus by the External Affairs team on September 17th. Students were encouraged to register to vote, whether it be by absentee ballot or in person. In the same week, External Affairs hosted Mayor Anders for “Mochas with the Mayor” on the Haley Concourse to provide students with the opportunity to meet a well-known member of our community and local government. The City of Auburn strives to include Auburn students and invite opportunities for discussion with them regarding local issues. We are thankful for the City of Auburn and their efforts on campus.

Miss Auburn hosted an interview workshop this month in which students got to practice their professional skills. A panel of accomplished Auburn men and women, along with Miss AuburnGrace Crim herself, answered student questions and gave advice to sharpen interview expertise.

Auburn Athletics has hosted five home football games in a row, and our athletics team has been working hard to make sure students have the best athletics experience possible. The Organizational Seating Program (OSP) and shaker distribution continue to run strong, and after a long break, they will be back in the stadium in November. The OSP team hosts shaker distribution every Friday at 2 p.m. inside Jordan-Hare Stadium, and invites all students to engage with this unique volunteer opportunity to see JHS before game day and help distribute shakers throughout the student section. Auburn football enriches the student experience, and it has been a joy to spend five weeks in a row together

September was a productive month for SGA, and we are sure that October will do the same. We thank you for this honor to serve you!

Sincerely, SGA
